The sizing on dog apparel will usually vary greatly from manufacturer to manufacturer. Too often, dog owners will make the mistake of thinking that their dog is a “medium” or a “small”. I actually hear this statement quite a bit when working with customers in our retail store. The truth, however, is that when it comes to dogs apparel, there are no standardized sizes like there are for human clothes and shoes. Your dog may wear a medium garment from one company and a large garment from another. So, it becomes very important that before you buy (especially if you are buying online), consult the size chart and follow it as closely as possible. If you have questions, call the company prior to ordering. Any reputable company should have a customer service representative available to answer ordering and sizing questions. You may also need to make size adjustments depending on the breed of your dog. It is an inconvenience for a store to have to exchange items, so they are usually willing to give you the proper help up front so that you can buy the right sized dog apparel the first time.
